VINEYARD

The vineyards, supported by a gravelly, well-drained soil and a mild maritime climate, are ideal for red varietals. From pruning to harvest, we work by hand, carefully assessing ripeness and producing high-quality grapes.

Gravelly soils, ideal for Bordeaux varieties

"Waimarama"'s vineyards are blessed by a maritime climate and gravelly soils reminiscent of the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. Excellent drainage provides just the right amount of stress and concentration to the vines, resulting in red wines with rich fruit flavors and supple structure. Thick topsoil is also a unique character which lends depth and complexity to the wines.

All vineyard managements are done by hand

All vineyard works from pruning and thinning to harvesting are conducted manually. With a focus on close observations and precise timing, the grapes are harvested at optimum maturity, ensuring fruits with finesse and balanced acidity. This traditional and meticulous works underpin Waimarama's elegant style.

Using clones from around the world

Waimarama carefully selects the optimal clones for each varietal from around the world. For Cabernet Sauvignon, we combine clones from France, Australia, and South Africa and for Syrah, we use Chave clone from Hermitage. Blending of various clones results in a complex and deep flavor profile.
